Paravel travel luggage and suitcases are built to work as a set, so the pieces you carry-on and the pieces you check share one look and one standard. The range covers four sizes: two carry-on suitcases for the cabin and short trips, and two checked suitcases for longer travel. The carry-on sizes nest inside the larger checked sizes for storage, so a full set folds down to the footprint of its largest suitcase. Choose a single suitcase or the whole range, and the exterior, wheels, and hardware match across every piece.

Why We Build Hard Shell Suitcases

Hard shell or soft shell is the first decision in choosing travel luggage, and we build hard shell. A hard shell exterior holds its shape under a full overhead locker and takes the impacts of checked travel, protecting what you pack. We make ours from 70% recycled polycarbonate from certified post-consumer waste, a material chosen for impact resistance and a light carry, with aluminium-reinforced corners at the points that meet the ground and the belt. The exterior wipes clean and holds up trip after trip, so a suitcase that travels often still looks considered.

Spinner Wheels That Roll Level

Every Paravel suitcase rolls on Japanese-made Hinomoto silent-glide 360 spinner wheels, four wheels that turn a full circle so the suitcase glides upright beside you instead of dragging behind. Four-wheel spinners move easily through crowded airports, train platforms, and narrow aeroplane aisles, and they take the weight off your arm in the security queue. Because the wheels are engineered for disassembly, a worn wheel comes off and a new one goes on, so smooth rolling is something you keep.

Carry-On & Checked: How to Choose Your Size

Start with how long you travel and whether you want to pack carry-on or check a suitcase. Our two carry-on sizes are made for the overhead locker: the standard carry-on measures 55 x 36 x 23 cm (21.7 x 14.2 x 9.1 in) and fits within the 56 x 36 x 23 cm carry-on size that Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Jetstar allow, while the larger carry-on measures 56.7 x 37.3 x 24.4 cm (22.3 x 14.7 x 9.6 in) and holds 47 litres at 3.5 kg for travellers who want maximum carry-on space. The larger carry-on is over the domestic size limit, so on Australian domestic flights plan to check it, and remember the carry-on weight cap of about 7 kg that Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Jetstar apply, which means packing to weight as well as size. For a week or longer, move to a checked suitcase: the large checked size measures 71 x 49.5 x 29 cm (28 x 19.5 x 11.4 in), and the extra-large size measures 79 x 42 x 35 cm (31.1 x 16.5 x 13.8 in) for long trips or packing for two. The two carry-on sizes nest inside the larger checked sizes for storage, so a full set of travel suitcases folds down to the footprint of its largest piece.

Security & Organisation Inside

Inside, our suitcases keep a packed load in place and secure. A TSA-approved lock lets airport security inspect and re-lock without cutting, and it is designed for disassembly and repair like the rest of the hardware. The interior uses a 100% recycled lining, recycled webbing compression straps with a custom Paravel clip, a built-in compression board, and two smart pockets that separate what you need to reach from what you have packed away. A removable laundry bag and dust bag, both 100% recycled, come with every suitcase.

Materials

Every material in a Paravel suitcase is chosen for durability and logged for traceability. The exterior is 70% recycled polycarbonate from certified post-consumer waste with a 100% recycled aluminium trim and aluminium-reinforced corners, the zip pulls are YKK on 100% recycled Natulon zip tape, and the handles use 100% recycled vegan leather.

Flying Internationally

For international travel, carry-on allowances are often more generous than the tighter Australian domestic limits, but they still vary by airline, so the standard carry-on is the safer choice when you want to keep your suitcase in the cabin. A checked suitcase carries what you need for longer trips. On domestic Australian flights the rules are stricter, with a carry-on weight cap of about 7 kg and a 56 x 36 x 23 cm size limit, so pack to both size and weight. Check your airline's limits before you fly, since allowances vary by carrier and fare.

Caring for Your Suitcase

A hard shell suitcase asks for little upkeep. Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth and mild soap, let it dry fully, and store it in a cool, dry place with the smaller sizes nested inside the larger ones. When a wheel, handle, or lock wears out, scan the QR code for the repair guide and the replacement part instead of replacing the suitcase. Cared for this way, one suitcase travels with you for years.
